KCMCA Yearly SCHOLARSHIPs

The King County Municipal Clerks Association (hereinafter referred to as “group,” “association,” “organization,” or “KCMCA”) has a vision, which in part, encompasses continued education and professional growth.  To that end, the organization has established an annual scholarship program which will fund at least one scholarship to each of the following conferences to members of the association who may not otherwise be able to attend.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a current dues-paying member of KCMCA.

  • Complete ALL sections of the scholarship application. If all required information is not submitted, the application may be deemed incomplete; and, thus, not considered.

  • Attest that their agency will support their time away to attend the conference.

  • Be willing to write a brief report to KCMCA members after the conference, sharing their experiences and conference takeaways.

Admin. & Selection

The KCMCA Secretary will maintain and update the scholarship application. The Secretary will solicit scholarship applications following the timelines above and compile completed applications for review by the KCMCA Board.

The KCMCA Board will review and consider all applications. The Board will determine award winners considering factors such as demonstrated need, the applicant’s efforts towards Certified Municipal Clerk or Public Records Officer certification, length of time in their position, and the number of times the applicant and/or agency has received KCMCA scholarships in the past, with preference given to those who have not received scholarships before.

The Secretary will notify both successful and unsuccessful candidates in writing.

The scholarship award winners will provide a reimbursement request and receipts to the Treasurer who will issue a check for the reimbursement amount. Reimbursable expenses include registration, lodging and travel expenses. The total reimbursement amount may not exceed the maximum scholarship amounts listed above. Payment will be issued to the agency the scholarship recipient is employed by or directly to the scholarship recipient if they incurred the cost.

The Board will consider requests to transfer the scholarship to another KCMCA member on a case-by-case basis if the original scholarship recipient is unable to attend the conference.

KCMCA’s Scholarship Program may be amended by a majority of those present and voting at any regularly scheduled KCMCA meeting.

Updated program adopted at the Sept. 18, 2025, KCMCA meeting.
